Chuck Low

Biography

Chuck Low was an American actor and businessman who became known for roles in movies headlined by Robert De Niro. A New York City native, he was in his fifties when he made his screen debut in Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy (1982), playing a customer in a Chinese restaurant. More small and supporting parts followed, among them Don Cabeza in The Mission (1986), Morris Kessler in Goodfellas (1990), Freddy DiMario in Night and the City, and Bernie in Mistress (1992). His work as Kessler drew the strongest notices, with the character remembered for a wig shop advertisement and for nagging Jimmy Conway over money. On television he played Shlomo Teittleman in The Sopranos. He also appeared in Alan Taylor's Kill the Poor. Outside acting, Low kept working in real estate and spent years as De Niro's broker. He died in 2017.
