Chris Colfer
Biography
Chris Colfer is an American actor, singer, and author from Clovis, California, who first acted in community theater productions of West Side Story and The Sound of Music. At eighteen he starred in the short film Russel Fish: The Sausage and Eggs Incident, and in 2009 he was cast as Kurt Hummel on Glee, a role Ryan Murphy created for him. His performance brought him a 2011 Golden Globe for his supporting role in a television series, two Emmy nominations, and a Grammy nomination, and in 2011 Time named him one of the 100 most influential people. He wrote, starred in, produced, and novelized Struck by Lightning (2012), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and he wrote the bestselling The Land of Stories children's books. He later appeared as Christopher in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (2016).

Did you know?!
First role
Colfer acted in a community theater production of West Side Story as his first show. He later played Kurt von Trapp in The Sound of Music at Good Company Players, which inspired the naming of his Glee character.
Early training
During his senior year of high school, Colfer wrote, directed and acted in Shirley Todd, a spoof of Sweeney Todd where every part was gender-reversed.
Behind the award
For playing Kurt Hummel, Colfer received the 2011 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. He called Ryan Murphy his "fairy godfather" in his speech and gave the honor to young people who had been bullied.
Behind the camera
In March 2014, it came out that Glee's producers had asked Colfer to write an episode. He had said in interviews he did not want to tamper with someone else's image, but the episode, "Old Dog, New Tricks", aired in May 2014.
