Charles Hyatt
Biography
Charles Hyatt was a Jamaican actor, comedian, playwright, director, author and broadcaster. Born in Kingston in 1931, he made his film debut in A High Wind in Jamaica (1965) and became known for character and comic roles in films and television from the 1960s. He appeared in numerous other films and television shows over the following decades, and he had notable performances in The Bushbaby and Freelance. His later film work included Crossplot (1969). He also appeared in Cool Runnings (1993). He worked as a director, writer and broadcaster. Jamaica gave him its national honor, the Order of Distinction, and he also received the silver Musgrave Medal and the Institute of Jamaica Centenary Medal. He died in 2007.
