Biography

Carol Marsh was an English actress. Born in Southgate, north London, she acted in convent school plays and won a scholarship that let her study speech, drama and singing at the Royal Academy of Music. She then trained at the Rank Organization's charm school and joined its repertory company in Worthing. In 1947, after more than 3,000 people tried out, she was cast as Rose in Brighton Rock (1948). Her later roles included Lucy Westenra in Dracula (1958), opposite Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, Fan Scrooge in Scrooge (1951), and parts in a French version of Alice in Wonderland and in Helter Skelter. From 1950 to the mid 1970s she acted in British television dramas, later appearing in Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap in London's West End. She also did much radio work, including more than one hundred plays for BBC radio, spanning 1950 to the 1980s.
