Bob Casale
Biography
Bob Casale was an American composer, musician and record producer best known for playing rhythm guitar and keyboards in the new wave band Devo, which he joined in 1973 after his older brother Gerald, the group's co-founder and bassist, recruited him. Born in Kent, Ohio, he became part of the band's best-known five-piece lineup, and Devo's 1980 single Whip It gave the group a Top 20 hit while it kept a cult following. After Warner Bros. dropped the band, Casale moved into audio engineering and record production, engineering Mark Mothersbaugh's solo debut Muzik for Insomniaks, producing records for Martini Ranch and Visiting Kids, and later joining the production group Mutato Muzika. He also worked on music for television and films, among them Four Rooms and Rushmore, and Devo members appeared in The Spirit of '76 (1990).

A change of course
When Devo's mainstream popularity faded in the mid-1980s, Casale moved into audio engineering and record production, engineering and mixing Mark Mothersbaugh's 1985 debut solo album Muzik for Insomniaks.

In 1986, Casale produced and engineered the debut EP by Martini Ranch, "How Can the Labouring Man Find Time for Self-Culture?" Mark Mothersbaugh played keyboards on it, and Alan Myers handled percussion.

As chances in audio engineering and record production grew for him and bandmate Mark Mothersbaugh, he took on work for television and movies, among them Four Rooms, Happy Gilmore, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and Rugrats Go Wild.
