Barry Norton
Biography
Barry Norton was an Argentine-American actor who began in silent pictures in 1925 and worked until his death in 1956, appearing in more than 90 films. He came to Hollywood in the 1920s, made his earliest screen appearance in The Black Pirate (1926) as an extra, and before long Fox Films cast him in The Lily. His break was as Lewisohn in What Price Glory?, a huge commercial success, and he took substantial parts in The Legion of the Condemned and 4 Devils (1928). Audiences and critics responded well to his acting, and he avoided Latin lover typecasting. His best known role was Juan Harker in Universal's Spanish-language Drácula (1931), and he also appeared in Spanish versions of The Criminal Code (1931), The Benson Murder Case (1930) and Paramount on Parade (1930). His last important part was in Lady for a Day (1933), directed by Frank Capra, and his final credited screen role came in Should Husbands Work? (1939).
