Barry Jackson

Barry Jackson was an English actor who worked in theater, film and television. He trained at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art after attending King Edward VI Five Ways Grammar School, then started out in repertory theater. His film roles included Ryan's Daughter (1970), Aces High (1976) and The Raging Moon (1971), as well as Barry Lyndon, Mr. Love and Wimbledon. On television he was Doctor George Bullard, the pathologist, in Midsomer Murders for its first fourteen series. He also appeared in many other shows, among them Z-Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, Poldark, The Professionals, Minder, Casualty and The Bill. In the original Doctor Who run he appeared in Galaxy 4, The Romans and Mission to the Unknown, and he later returned as Drax in The Armageddon Factor. He starred in Horace, a 1972 television play about a grown man who had the mind of a ten-year-old, later revived as a series in 1982.
