Barry Coe
Biography
Barry Coe was an American actor whose film and television work ran from 1956 to 1978. Raised in Los Angeles, he went to the University of Southern California, and a talent scout spotted him in the mid-1950s, after which 20th Century Fox signed him. Early roles came in House of Bamboo (1955) and Love Me Tender (1956), and he was first really noticed as Rodney Harrington in Peyton Place (1957). He received a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer, Male, in 1960, the year he also appeared in One Foot in Hell (1960). Supporting parts followed in The Bravados (1958) and The 300 Spartans (1962). He co-starred as Paul Templin on the ABC series Follow the Sun from 1961 to 1962, was semiregular on Bracken's World, and later had roles in Fantastic Voyage (1966) and Doctor Death: Seeker of Souls (1973). His final film was Jaws 2 (1978).

Coe went to the University of Southern California. On a fraternity trip to Palm Springs in the mid-1950s, a talent scout spotted him, and 20th Century Fox signed him.
Big break
Coe's first truly notable part was Rodney Harrington, a lustful character, in the 1957 film Peyton Place. The movie drew on Grace Metalious's best-selling 1956 novel of the same name.
