Arie Verveen

Born September 28, 1976, Arie Verveen is an actor who first explored acting while living in London, drawn to the illusions of Tennessee Williams plays such as Orpheus Descending and Camino Real. His London stage debut was in Michael V. Gazzo's A Hatful of Rain, which he co-produced and starred in. He then went to New York City to pursue filmmaking, volunteered at the Actors Studio, and spent six months helping run it day to day while assisting Arthur Penn. That commitment ended when he was cast in Caught (1996), his first lead film role, alongside Edward James Olmos and Maria Conchita Alonso under Robert M. Young. He received Satellite Awards for Caught and The Thin Red Line (1998), an Independent Spirit Award nomination, and worked on Swelter (2014) and Sons of Anarchy (2008), also collaborating with directors Terrence Malick, Eli Roth on Cabin Fever (2003), and Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller on Sin City (2005).
