Aden Gillett
Biography
Aden Gillett is a British actor who was born in Aden in 1958 and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He is best known as Jack Maddox in the BBC drama The House of Eliott. On stage he played Mr Banks in Mary Poppins and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, worked with the Peter Hall Company at the Theatre Royal in Bath on Shakespeare plays including Antony and Cleopatra and As You Like It, and appeared at The Old Vic in The Tempest. He won a Theatre World Award as Best Newcomer on Broadway for his part in An Inspector Calls at the Royale Theatre. His films include The Borrowers (1997) and The Winslow Boy (1999). On television he played Robin Hood in Ivanhoe and Peter Townsend in The Queen's Sister, and he narrated the 2004 documentary Who Betrayed Anne Frank. He played Scrooge for the RSC in A Christmas Carol from 2018 to 2019.
