Plot summary
Seven years before the Re:ZERO series begins, Elior Forest lies under ice and snow, home to dangerous magic beasts and to fifty elves frozen in ice. Emilia, a half-elf with long ears, silver hair and amethyst eyes, resembles the Witch blamed for destroying half the world long ago, and the people who live on the outskirts of the forest fear her. The spirit Puck, her only family, freed her from an ice prison. She earns a modest living selling magic stones and driving Magic Beasts away, and she searches for a way to help her frozen kin. Then the Great Spirit of Fire, Melakuera, the world's Arbitrator, decides to judge her.
