Plot summary
Dr. Rehman is the village doctor who treats the poor without charging them, and the villagers respect him for it. In the city, Dr. Kumar runs a successful practice and has raised his son Anand through the best medical academies. Dr. Kumar sends Anand to the village to see Dr. Rehman. The villagers take Anand for a new assistant doctor, and once he sees how ill Rehman is and how much work he faces alone, Anand chooses to remain. Soni, who earns her living selling garments in the big city, comes back to the village, where the residents think badly of her for her many trips away. Only Dr. Rehman understands her situation. She falls in love with Anand. He loves her too, but he denies his feelings because of her reputation, and he rejects her as she pursues him.
