Plot summary
Near the San Francisco Bay, ailing shipping magnate Matthew S. Cabot meets with his secretary, Miss Lee, and sends for his wife, Sheila, and his physician, Dr. David Rivera. As Matthew receives an injection, he asks David about the new hospital job in Zurich. David is Sheila's lover, and when she slips away from a department store to his apartment, he tells her he is leaving the following night so he can stop imagining Matthew's murder. Sheila bids him goodbye. After David has gone, Matthew complains about the love she fails to show him and asks her to give up the idea of a driver's permit.
