Plot summary
Jennifer Garrick, a defense attorney, is representing Vincent Gotto, convicted of murdering a child, and she does not believe he is guilty. She suspects he is shielding whoever really committed the crime. A large Pinocchio puppet that Gotto had buried turns up in her office, delivered as evidence she had requested. Hoping it holds a clue that might save him from execution, she takes it home. Her daughter Zoe, emotionally fragile, assumes the puppet is a present for her birthday and claims it as her own. Zoe grows attached to it, and accidents start happening to people who cross her. Zoe blames the puppet; her therapist, Dr. Edwards, doubts her account.
