Plot summary
Kang-do is a debt collector for loan sharks who expect ten times the value of a loan after a month. Those who borrow must sign up for handicap insurance, and Kang-do wounds them so claims can be paid. Hun-cheol's small loan has grown into a large sum, and he and his wife Myeong-ja cannot pay it. Myeong-ja undresses and asks Kang-do for another week, and he turns her down. Afterward a middle-aged woman trails Kang-do, saying she is Mi-sun, the mother who left him thirty years ago. He sends her away at first, then lets her stay. He grows gentler at his work, at one point sparing a young factory hand whose child is on the way.
