Plot summary

Manu has loved the pianist Stella Panini since boyhood, and meeting her remains his goal. Stefano Salegi, a shady man who takes on the role of his manager, tells him to put a band together. Manu is a dreamer who has trouble finding his place in society, and his instrument is a broom, which he uses to make music and hold the rhythm. The players he gathers are an unusual lot: a violinist whose itchy armpit can stop his playing at any moment, two trumpet-playing twins taken from a circus whose sense of smell is remarkable, a bearded counter-tenor, and a percussionist whose triangle serves a finch as a perch. A goat that climbs to the top of the portable stage travels with them.
