Plot summary
In 1859, a plague sweeps a Pennsylvania village. A suffering family is pushed into a cave and locked behind doors. When the magistrate dies, the town mage, Henry Bartlett, insists on taking the post and solving the problem. His wife has already died of the plague, and his daughter Hope is showing symptoms. Franklin objects, then gives in. Bartlett warns that the cure will carry a price. In the present day, four teens hike the woods. Terry, who has a map to a town that vanished, breaks his ankle, so Mike and Jessica go for help while he and Leah camp. Terry opens the doors of an old shelter, and a misshapen ogre comes out. Mike and Jessica pass a No Trespassing sign, hear a bell, and find the town, where Bartlett leads a meeting about a yearly sacrifice.
