Plot summary

Santos Trinidad is a corrupt police inspector and a disgraced former GEO member, drinking his way through Madrid late at night. Turned away from one bar, he demands a drink at another that has already shut. The manager offers him one, then stands too close, and Trinidad breaks his nose. When the bouncer pulls a pistol, Trinidad shoots both men dead. While he wipes down the scene, one person slips away. He goes through the wallets for a lead on that witness and then tears up the identifying papers. Chacón and Leiva take the case, but with the victims unnamed the inquiry inches along, and at first it looks like a gangland killing. Trinidad draws on police resources to trace the witness's license plates, and searches an apartment and a car.
