Plot summary
Bharath Ram has just collected his fifth degree at Oxford when his uncle Varadarajulu, the party president, tells him that his father Raghava Rao, the state's chief minister, has died. He flies home for the funeral. Varadarajulu cancels his ticket back to London and puts his name forward for the post instead. Bharath objects and asks the older man to take it, but Varadarajulu says the party would split. Bharath takes office, and his strict rules and new ideas restore order while angering the opposition. He meets Vasumathi and falls for her, and when he opens an inquiry into money laundering among politicians, Varadarajulu calls it off.
