Plot summary
Han Se-jin leaves the hometown where her father is the stationmaster for Seoul, where an IT company has offered her a job. The company goes bankrupt, and she moves into a cheap basement flat while she hunts for work through a recession. Next door lives middle-aged Dong-cheol, a small-time gangster who collects loans for boss Kim. Dong-cheol cannot fight, though he acts like a tough guy, and he gets beaten up in the neighborhood. Sharing a building with a gangster makes Se-jin uneasy. He comes to her aid more than once, and a wary friendship forms between them. Depressed by her failure to find work, she spends one evening drinking with him.
