Plot summary
In 1960, a group of thirteen American women pilots took the same tests NASA had given a year earlier to the Mercury 7, the astronauts chosen for Project Mercury, and they passed. The group became known as the Mercury 13. When the space agency chose the pilots for spaceflight, only men were picked, and the women were asked to step aside.
