Plot summary
The Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen speaks in his own words on audiotapes he recorded in prison, describing his life and his crimes. Around that voice the documentary sets Britain in the 1980s, when mass unemployment sent young men to London in search of work and left many of them destitute and easy prey. Police officers, journalists, survivors and bereaved families describe what they witnessed. The testimony traces how Nilsen attacked and killed without being challenged for five years.
