Plot summary
MegaForce is a secret army whose soldiers come from many countries and whose vehicles and weapons are of advanced design. It exists to take on missions that national governments avoid. When Gamibia sends its forces across the border, the peaceful Republic of Sardun, unable to defend itself, turns to the unit: Major Zara and General Edward Byrne-White arrive to ask for its help. Commanding MegaForce is Ace Hunter, whose opposite number in Gamibia is Duke Guerera, a man he knew as a friend at military academy. Hunter drafts an elaborate battle plan, and all the while Zara undergoes the tests that would make her a member of the force.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Megaforce (1982)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Producer Al Ruddy and director Hal Needham cast Barry Bostwick as Ace Hunter after seeing him on stage in The Pirates of Penzance in Los Angeles; Ruddy had dropped an earlier, more serious take on the script because he wanted something closer to a spoof.
- Barry Bostwick said the Pentagon tried to block the film by refusing the 40 army tanks needed for the big battle scenes, because the fictional strike force resembled covert CIA units that still existed.
- Shot on location in Nevada, the film pioneered Introvision, a process that let actors walk in and out of photographs rather than built sets; it created the secret army's headquarters.
- William Fredrick, who had worked on Hooper, designed the cars and motorbikes, delivering them after eight months and one million dollars of work, and every one of the machines actually ran.
- No costume designer was credited on the film: every piece of clothing was designed by the toy company Mattel.
- Megaforce became a favorite of South Park's creators: Trey Parker praised it on a DVD introduction after mistakenly describing its plot instead of his own episode, and Team America: World Police echoes it with a flying motorcycle and an underground base.
