Plot summary
With the end of the world imminent, a man passes into a parallel dimension, a limbo lying between reality and fantasy, where time and space have stopped following their usual rules. His wife sets out after him to bring him back. Both of them end up held in a world that is strange and cruel. A ruthless Queen there runs reality as though it were a mad game of chess, and her domain is a dystopia after the apocalypse in which some dominate and others are subjugated. Its inhabitants cannot speak, eat or move freely, and at regular intervals they are attacked viciously.
