Plot summary
Douglas MacArthur holds the rank of General of the Army and serves as Supreme Allied Commander during World War II. His life as a soldier is told in flashback, beginning in 1942 in the Philippines, before the Battle of Bataan, when President Franklin Roosevelt recalls him. The narration is framed by a visit MacArthur makes to West Point in 1962, and it follows his career from 1942 to 1952.
