Trailer

Plot summary

Connie Scott has used her husband Jim's postwar wages to buy a dilapidated apartment building near Gramercy Park in Manhattan, expecting the rent to leave him free to finish his novel. Upkeep swallows his days instead. The tenants include Charley Patterson, a smooth talker who courts wealthy widows, and Eadie Gaynor, a widow with little money whom he takes out. Jim talks Connie into renting to an Army friend, Roberta Stevens, a former WAC whose arrival pleases Jim's friend Ed Forbes and unsettles Connie. A building inspector then gives the Scotts fifteen days to repair exposed wiring, or the building will be condemned.
