Plot summary
In 1979, the Sandinista government of Nicaragua is at war with the Contra rebels, a campaign that American money and expertise support. Eddie Guerrero, a Mexican American soldier and a veteran of the Vietnam War, is sent to Nicaragua on a secret assignment: training Contra rebels alongside U.S. Special Forces in the jungle. He falls for Marlena, a local girl who has a son. Eddie questions the morality of the task and considers how his work may affect the fate of a nation.
