Plot summary
Fini Straubinger is a German woman who lost her hearing and sight in her teens. She works for other deaf-blind people and travels to visit them. On one trip she and her friends ride in an airplane. The people she meets are almost wholly isolated from the world around them, and they work at understanding it and at finding acceptance in it.
