Plot summary
In Meiji-era Japan, Yuki Kashima, known as Lady Snowblood, is surrounded by policemen on a beach after her campaign of revenge. She fights them off until they overwhelm her, and a court quickly condemns her to hang. Before the sentence is carried out, Seishiro Kikui, who heads the Secret Police, has her brought to his headquarters. He speaks of Ransui Tokunaga, a dissident the government calls a danger to the State, and of a document in Ransui's keeping that Kikui considers critical. Kikui offers Yuki immunity if she gets the document for him. Yuki takes a place in Ransui's household as a maid and begins searching the house for it.
