Plot summary
Across the country, two investigators trace four urban legends back to the real crimes that may have inspired them. The Hookman tale, in which a killer has a hook in place of a hand and preys on teenagers parked in a lovers' lane, is compared with the unsolved Texarkana Moonlight Murders and the early slasher film those killings inspired. In Houston, Texas, the pair look into the legend of poisoned candy handed to children. In Columbia, Missouri, they examine the story of a babysitter and the man who is already inside the house. In Chicago, they consider the evil clown and the phantom clown sightings that children report.
