Plot summary
The Bella Donna reports a man overboard off Gibraltar, and Paul Pelikan drowns before anyone can rescue him. People in port suspect the Skipper pushed Paul, who had been involved with the Skipper's wife, Mona. Nothing is proved, but Mona believes it and leaves him. He drinks in the local bars and says he will sail again, which the townspeople doubt. Su and Lou, two English singers who barely make a living at local clubs, perform at the California Bar, and the Skipper, there that night, falls for them. After a night with the two, he agrees to sail them to Barbados.
