Plot summary
Jan Kapr lived from 1914 to 1988. He was a Czech composer, a progressive artist, a prominent communist and a Stalin award laureate, and he was banned in socialist Czechoslovakia. The film tracks his life through the pivotal moments that shaped an artist's fate, with opera songs answering each of those junctures. It draws on his personal amateur films, never shown before, which reveal his humor, his inner struggles and his wish to leave traces for eternity.
