Plot summary
In Jefferson Valley, New York, people have been disappearing for weeks. A man drenched in blood bursts into a bar and dies, and the local scientist Roy Anderson examines his body, finding blood cells that reproduce far faster than they should. A stranger dressed as a farmer comes to Roy's house and is chased into the woods by Buster, Roy's dog, and Buster does not come back. The next morning Jenny, Roy's daughter, finds the dog hanging outside the front door, and her fiancé Don hurries into the woods after whoever left it, where he picks up an antique key.

- The script originally made the blood farmers aliens from outer space; during the first week of shooting, director Ed Adlum decided there was no money for outer space footage and had them changed into druids instead.
- In 2012 Ed Adlum said he never sold the film's VCR or DVD rights, so every copy in circulation was a knock-off, and he found it funny that those knock-offs all open with an FBI anti-counterfeiting warning.
- Ed Adlum said the cast mostly stuck to the script, except Dick Erickson, who played Kinski and could not remember his lines, so he had to read them from cue cards.
