Plot summary
The forty minutes of explicit footage cut from Cruising are gone, and the two filmmakers behind this project take the attempt to recreate them as a starting point rather than a goal. Only brief scenes repeat the lost material literally. Around that, the actors say how comfortable or uncomfortable they are with what they are asked to do, and the project sets creative freedom against censorship. It also follows how the screen portrayal of LGBT people and their concerns has changed since Cruising came out. Several participants cannot see why one of the two wants to be part of it, and the other is drawn to the argument over whether the deleted footage served as homophobic propaganda or as something closer to a documentary record.
