Plot summary
Chantal Stacy is the daughter of Germaine, a former French showgirl, and John, a Boston antiques dealer. Her father worries her French side will land her in trouble before her Boston side finds her a husband. When John's promotion moves the family to New York, Chantal meets Eugene Wright, a photographer who asks her to model for him. John punches Eugene at her first shoot and takes her home. Chantal tells her mother she likes Gene and wants to keep modeling, and on Germaine's advice she marries him. As his wife she is expected to stay home. Then her college friend Tina arrives in New York and flirts with Gene, and Germaine gives Chantal a book on training dogs.
