Plot summary
A documentary about the renewable energy source cooperative movement in Europe. In twelve countries, groups of citizens establish their own energy cooperatives and generate the power they use, applying circular economy ideas to the electricity sector. Some of these places return more money to a participant than a bank deposit would. Across Europe more than 2,500 such cooperatives already operate. The film asks whether a five percent return would persuade a household to switch supplier, drop fossil fuels and stop paying multinational corporations. Dozens of people from England, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Italy tell how they run these projects, and scholars including Vincenzo Balzani of the University of Bologna, Brian Vad Mathiesen of Aalborg University and Bernard Laponche, a French pioneer of nuclear energy, add their views.
