Plot summary
Chris Hondros built a career as an award-winning war photographer, and his best-known pictures each carry a story from the conflicts where they were made. After the attacks of 9/11 he committed himself to bearing witness to the wars of his time, and he belonged to a new generation of war photographers, the first since Vietnam. Covering more than a decade of conflict brings complications, and alongside the work he tries to maintain a normal life. His job also involves an unknowable calculus: split-second decisions about life and death, taken before, during and after a photograph is made.
