Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Producer Darryl F. Zanuck had a pattern of building films around his mistresses, having previously done it for Bella Darvi, Juliette Gréco and Irina Demick; Hello-Goodbye was made as a vehicle for his then-mistress Gilles, his first hands-on production since inserting Demick into The Longest Day in 1962.
- Director Ronald Neame began shooting the film on the French Riviera but quit after a few weeks following disputes with producer Darryl F. Zanuck; he was replaced by Jean Negulesco, who reportedly only took the job as a favor to Zanuck.
