Plot summary
In Mexico in the late 19th century, Federales capture Quintero, a revolutionary rallying opposition to the dictatorship of President Díaz. Quintero hands his lieutenant, Maximiliano O'Leary, $600 to keep the cause going. Bandit chief Carlos Lobero demands the money be spent on guns and ammunition, but Max crosses the border seeking Chris Adams, an American gunman his cousin told him about. Chris agrees to mount a rescue and uses $500 to recruit five combatants: Keno, a horse thief and hand-to-hand fighter; Cassie, a former slave who handles dynamite; Slater, a one-armed sharpshooter; P.J., a tubercular wrangler; and Levi Morgan, an aging family man skilled with knives.
