Plot summary

Holden Latter, a video game creator, says in an interview that he wants a virtual world where nothing is impossible. Francesco is an eighteen-year-old hacker with a difficult life: a bully named Gianfilippo torments him at school, his mother has thrown his father out of the house, and psychologists follow him. In one of Holden's programs Francesco finds an easter egg; hacking it, he obtains coordinates that lead him under the subway to a device that sends a person's consciousness into a video game through a brain connection. Levels arranged like the rings of Saturn are reached by a shuttle elevator, and Francesco can make anything appear inside. He loads Giovanni, a friend who spends his days on his computer and console, into the game as a therapy for his habit, staying connected to a computer outside to guide him.
