Plot summary
It is 1993 in South Africa, a year before the country's first non-racial general election, and violence between white and black paramilitary groups is worsening in Langa Township. Rev. Peter Lekota holds an interracial church service there and invites Gerrit Wolfaardt, an Afrikaner who once promoted apartheid and now speaks of peace, to address the congregation. Gerrit arrives with his wife, Celeste. Moses Moremi comes with his uncle and remains after noticing Gerrit, though he doubts that the two groups can share the country. That night a white paramilitary group attacks the township and meets resistance from an underground black unit led by Edward.

- Writer-director Cristóbal Krusen said the idea for making a film in South Africa first came to him in 1988 while filming Ropa Nueva para Felipe in Mexico, and he made numerous trips to South Africa between 1990 and 1994 to observe race relations and seek material.
