Plot summary
Eric Longfellow, a music teacher, lies buried until a spirit reaches his grave and brings the corpse back into motion. The body will not hold up by itself, so Longfellow keeps it from rotting by taking the life energy of the living, which he draws out with his hands around their throats. He settles in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland, and gives music lessons again. Gary Kender, a man who lives nearby, senses that his new neighbor is not right.
