Plot summary
Nelson Potter is sixteen and works with a crew of bank robbers: he scouts the targets and, during the jobs, plays the hostage. The crew is led by his father, Sam, and includes Tony and Lilly, a martial artist who is also Sam's girlfriend. Lilly wants Sam to herself and presses him to drop Nelson from the group, but Sam turns her down. Sam's aim is to steal enough to cover his son's college education; Nelson, for his part, has no quarrel with robbing banks as a way of life. When Lilly overhears Sam insulting her, she withholds Nelson's share of their latest haul and goes for Sam, and Nelson holds her at gunpoint. The partnership breaks up and Tony and Lilly leave.

- While filming Fast Getaway, Corey Haim refused to wear padding for a scene in which Cynthia Rothrock stomps on him. The next day producers suspended filming and scolded Rothrock after Haim complained she had hurt him, but Haim later admitted to her he had invented the injury because he did not want to work that day.
- While making Fast Getaway, producers asked Cynthia Rothrock to do frontal nudity, which was more than she had agreed to; she told them to contact her agent, and the demand was never raised again.
- Stuntman Steve Kelso said the fall in Fast Getaway's Royal Gorge Bridge setpiece, part of a 1,100-foot descent, was a seemingly 400-foot jump towards the river controlled by a carefully concealed winch; the stuntmen still plummeted at about 40 miles per hour.
