Plot summary
The Father is a wealthy industrialist and the patriarch of a family whose members go by their roles alone: The Mother and The Son. He owns a factory where the workers turn eggs into instruments made for scratching itches that no hand can reach, and he governs the plant and his household without asking anyone. The Son has grown up subdued and pressed down, and the business his father built holds nothing for him. Among the people around the family are a girl, a tramp, an American and the workers from the factory floor. When the son refuses to stay in line, the father does not take it calmly, and the two of them square off against each other.
