Plot summary
Jang Hae-joon is a detective in Busan who cannot sleep, and he sees his wife, Jeong-ahn, only on weekends. With his partner, Soo-wan, he takes the case of Ki Do-soo, a retired immigration officer found dead at the bottom of a mountain he often climbed. Ki's wife, Song Seo-rae, who is much younger than him and came from China to work as a caretaker for seniors, answers their questions without grief. Their suspicion grows: bruises on her body, broken ribs, a scratch on her hand, and a tattoo of Ki's initials that echoes the monogram he put on his belongings. She tells them that in China she gave her terminally ill mother fentanyl pills to end her life, at her mother's request. Hae-joon keeps returning to interview her and watches her apartment at night.
