Plot summary
David Lynch: The Art Life examines the filmmaker's early years. Filmed over four years, it shows him working on new paintings and caring for his infant daughter Lula, while photographs of his childhood and early work appear. The soundtrack is assembled from more than twenty recorded conversations. In them, he recalls growing up in Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Virginia, unhappy studies in Boston, and settling only reluctantly in Philadelphia with his wife Peggy, where their daughter Jennifer is born and he sets out to make a career as a painter.
