Plot summary
Katherine Thatcher's father is a stranger to her, and Romania is where she hopes to find out who he is. The country she arrives in holds a vampire underworld, a small community that lives in brooding darkness and keeps torture chambers. The vampires there take an interest in her arrival and want her to join their plans. Democracy is four months away for Romania.
