Plot summary
Alexis and her husband David Weinberg are driving through heavy rain toward the ferry that will take them to their private island, arguing as they go. At the roadside they spot an injured young man and, after some argument, drive him to the nearest town. The ferry has gone, so the couple spends the night in a motel. Their seven-year marriage has been full of miscommunication, and when David arranges a sailing trip to make up for his temper, a fogbank rolls in and the boat runs aground. The young man is camping on the shore, and David asks for his help and invites him to stay at the house.
