Plot summary
Randy and Mike are paramedics who work together, and after eighteen years in the field Randy feels chastised, overworked and overlooked by the healthcare professionals and uniformed personnel around him. He interviews for a position at an insurance company and says that he is burned out. Believing that the job did not come through, he reports for his next shift dejected and irritable, and Shanice, his supervisor, hands him a student named Jessica to ride along. That night he begins a 24-hour shift with Mike and Jessica, and Jessica questions the decisions Randy makes and how he handles emergency care.
