Becoming Santa (2011) on Netflix

Plot summary

One holiday season, Jack Sanderson sets out to find out what it takes to be Santa Claus. He lightens his hair and signs up for Santa School, then spends the weeks before Christmas doing the work the role asks for: a corner on the sidewalk, visits to homes, a ride on a Polar Express train, a place in a parade. Along the way, children hand him their wishes. He meets some of the people who keep the figure going, including a postal worker, the president of a business association, an archivist at a soft-drink company and several working Santas, and he takes in how Santa came to be, the value of belief and the ordinary people behind the tradition.
